| The Quill of Champions Congratulations to the 2011 ATA Safety Contest Winners The  American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) National Truck & Safety Contests  recognize the extraordinary safety accomplishments of motor carriers across the  United States by operation type and size. Motor carriers from all 50 states,  representing every type and size of operation, are encouraged to enter the ATA  annual contests. Carriers are judged on their safety records relative to others  within their classes of competition. Safety records are determined from the  carriers’ vehicle accident rates or lost workday case rates.  The  2011 awards, which are for the 2010 calendar year, were presented at the  September 2011 Safety & Human Resources National Conference &  Exhibition held in Albuquerque, N.M.  Baldwin  & Lyons would like to recognize our insureds who received awards at these  contests. We congratulate them on their commitment to safety!           2011 ATA President’s TrophyPitt  Ohio Express was awarded its fifth ATA President’s  Trophy. This trophy is awarded to one large, one mid-sized and one small fleet  with the most comprehensive safety program, based on data submitted through the  National Truck & Industrial Safety Contests. Pitt Ohio Express earned the  award in the mid-sized fleet category.

Motor carriers are eligible every  four years and Pitt Ohio Express has won the award every year the company has  been eligible. ATA National Truck Safety ContestThe  ATA National Truck Safety Contest is conducted to foster and promote safer  truck operations. Recognition is awarded to those motor carriers that achieve  the highest standards of safety. These awards are given to the top three  carriers in each commodity division and mileage class that had the lowest collision  rates in terms of the number of collisions per million vehicle miles of  operation.
