Corporate Citizenship in 2011

Sagamore Insurance Company understands that during tough economic times, many find it difficult to make ends meet. We hope that the incentives our agents win through the Spin to Win and Let It Ride games provide a bit of assistance during this challenging time.

Many of our agents have shared personal stories about how they use their winnings from these games. It is said that “succeeding or failing depends on attitude” and these stories demonstrate the generosity and helpfulness of Sagamore’s agents. We hope their stories will inspire you, as they have Sagamore’s marketing department.

I took all of the gift cards I received this summer and used them to “pay it forward” by purchasing school supplies for a family with two children; a 10-year-old boy going into fourth grade and a 5-year-old girl starting kindergarten.

I managed to anonymously buy everything on their list, including new shoes for the young man, and had them delivered by an off-duty officer the night before their first day of school. I’m told they were so excited. The little boy was looking forward to playing football with his new shoes because he said they were going to help him run faster.

Below is a picture of the young man with his best friend after their first football practice. Check out the smiles!

I am so blessed to have a good job and I enjoy working with good companies. Thanks for sharing with us so we can share with our community! I look forward to selling more with Sagamore and “paying it forward” in the future.

This past year I gave a few of the Spin to Win cards to my assistant here in the office who does a great job. I also took part of the earnings and gave them to some of my customers who were going through tough times financially. For example, the accountant next door to our office noticed a customer coming in who was taking care of her widowed mother who is on disability. For Christmas, the accountant put together a package of socks and food items for them, and asked if I would take it to them. I put some Walmart cards from Spin to Win with the package when I delivered it to them.

In February, during a large snow storm, one of my customers suffered a devastating mobile home fire while she was at a neighbor's house. It was a total loss. She was not able to get anything out of the mobile home and only had the items that were with her when she called me. The claim was submitted, but it would be several days before the adjuster could come out and look at the damage. She told me she didn't even have a toothbrush, toothpaste or any basic necessities. I grabbed all the Walmart cards I had in my desk drawer from Spin to Win, along with some extra cash, and took them to the motel the Red Cross had set up for her. When I arrived at the motel, the desk clerk told me she was meeting with the Red Cross and they would see that she received them. The next day she called and thanked me for the Walmart cards and cash so she could get some items she needed that night. She said they were a real blessing.

The Spin to Win items have been a really nice way to help out others in their times of need.

Some time ago, I made the decision to help others where and when I could. Presently, I have a couple different ministries that I help with. I use 90 percent of my Spin to Win earnings on those ministries. I use the $2 bills to buy stamps and envelopes for a particular dorm at Tutwiler Prison for women. They have to rely on outside help for many things, so stamps and envelopes are very important to them. I use my Walmart gift cards to help a grandmother who was left with a one-year-old grandchild to raise. She uses them for groceries and gas.

Just today when I received the check for the August application promotion, it came to my attention that a young lady who had just acquired a new job did not have appropriate clothing. I was able to get her a gift card at Cato and she will be able to buy three or four outfits. I have been extremely blessed, and these $2 bills and gift cards are one way that I can help bless others.

Words cannot express how much we at Tom Jones appreciate Sagamore for continuing the Spin to Win and other promotions from time to time. It is not only fun, but it helps where help is needed.
